Proposals for the 11th Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium

The Executive Committee of the Pangborn Sensory Science Symposia is currently soliciting proposals for the 11th Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium that will take place in 2015.  Proposals will be due July 30, 2011 and should be submitted in electronic format by e-mail to Erminio Monteleone, Chair of the Executive Committee, erminio.monteleone@unifi.it

In 2007 the Executive Committee anticipated rotating future meetings among Longitudinal segments of the globe.  2015 will be held in the European/African segment;  If we do not receive a suitable proposal for a 2015 location in Europe/Africa, we will consider proposals from other locations.

Your proposal should include the following information:

  • Location and potential venue/s
  • Proposed organizers of the 2015 Pangborn Symposium and proposed organisers of the scientific program
  • A statement detailing why the 2015 Pangborn Symposium should be held at this location. This statement should include:
    • Details of potential venues large enough to accommodate the symposium (three conference rooms large enough to seat 1100, 350 and 350 in a theatre-style configuration, and 30,000 square feet of exhibition space)
    • Sensory community in the area that can provide support during symposium planning
    • Availability of affordable transport to the city and within the city
    • Availability of reasonably priced and convenient accommodation
    • Cultural and entertainment options

Please avoid submitting large electronic files that may be rejected by some e-mail providers.  Consider instead providing URL links.

Proposers should be aware that The Executive Committee is likely to have a contractual agreement with Elsevier for the administration of the 2015 Pangborn Conference.  Further details of what this implies will be given on request.

We will consider proposals at a meeting during the 9th Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium that will take place from 4-8 September 2011 in Toronto, Canada. A representative for each proposal must be available for questions during this meeting. However, they will not present or otherwise promote the proposal at that meeting.  Specific details about the time, location and telephone connections at that meeting will be available closer to that time.
