Proposals for the 9th Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium

The Executive Committee of the Pangborn Sensory Science Symposia is currently soliciting proposals for the 9th Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium that will take place in 2011.

Historically the location of the symposium has alternated between the United States and Europe. Location of the 2011 Pangborn Symposium will not be limited to the United States, however. Proposals are encouraged from other global sensory communities. The reason for the advanced selection process is due to the success and growth of the Pangborn Symposia, requiring conference planning to begin more than two years before the event.

If you are interested in submitting a proposal for the 2011 Pangborn Symposium, the deadline is Friday 27 July, 2007. Proposals should be submitted in electronic format by email to em.white@elsevier.com.
(Delegates are reminded not to email credit card information in any circumstances.)

Your proposal should include the following information:

  1. Location and potential venue/s
  2. Proposed organizers of the 2011 Pangborn Symposium
  3. A statement detailing why the 2011 Pangborn Symposium should be held at this location. This statement should include:
  • Details of potential venues large enough to accommodate the symposium (three conference rooms large enough to seat 1100, 350 and 350 in a theatre-style configuration, and 30,000 square feet of exhibition space)
  • Availability of affordable transport to the city and within the city
  • Availability of reasonable accommodation
  • Cultural and entertainment options
  • Sensory community in the local area that can provide support during symposium planning

Proposals will be considered at a meeting to be held during the 7th Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium that will take place from 12-16 August 2007 in Minneapolis, USA. A representative for each proposal must be available for questions during this meeting, but they will not have to present the proposal. Full details of this meeting will be confirmed at a later date.
